Kozuf mountain

Kozuf is a mountain located on the border between Macedonia and Greece. Highest peak Kozuf is top Zelenbeg 2176 meters high. The slopes Kozuv is Konopiste village which was the only municipality in Macedonia whose head office is located mountain Kozuv. The highest areas are developed the source Crest rivers: Doshnica, Boshava, Blashtica .Mountain Kozuf covers an area of ​​1000 square kilometers of the territory of the two countries (Macedonia and Greece). At the borders of the Republic of Macedonia, Kozuf covers a territory of 80 percent and the remaining 20 percent are in the territory of the Republic of Greece.

Galicica Mountain

Galicica is high mountain in Macedonia. Due to the natural beauty and characteristic flora and fauna of the forests and forest areas mountain Galicica, a larger part of it, an area of ​​22,750 hectares in 1958, has been declared a national park. Galicica National Park, situated in the southwest part of the Republic of Macedonia, is characteristic for its positioning between the two lakes, Ohrid and Prespa Lake, the involved orthography and interesting geomorphological forms.The lowest point is the level of Lake Ohrid 695 meters above sea level and the level of Lake Prespa 850 meters above sea level, the highest peak Magaro 2255 meters above sea level. Galicica has developed relief with deep valleys and steep slopes on both lakes. 




Jakupica mountain

Jakupica or Wet Mountains are a mountain range in central Macedonia. It is composed of more mountainous parts: Karadzica Dautica Goleshnica Kitka and Osoj. The nucleus is composed of gneiss and crystalline schists, and above them are thick layers of Mesozoic limestones and dolomites. Mountain are traces of the Ice Age, represented by cir (two lakes), valleys and moraines. Jakupica is rich with diverse flora and fauna, pastures, springs - hot and others. Highest and notable peak is Solunska Chapter, 2540 meters high. Other important peaks are:

Baba Mountain

Baba or Baba Mountain is a mountain located in the southwestern part of the Republic of Macedonia, located a few miles west of city Bitola . According to the surface that covers (436 km2) it is the thirteenth, and according to height (Pelister 2601 m) third mountain in the country.
In 1948, due to the natural beauty, historical and scientific significance of forests and forest areas on the mountain Baba, one part of an area of 12 500 hectares, has been declared a national park.
Baba is located between Pelagonija east and Prespa valley west. It actually represents Horst between these two valleys.Approximately 65% of the Baba mountain range located in the territory of the Republic of Macedonia, with 35% of the territory of Greece.





Mount Korab


Mount Korab (Macedonian: Голем КорабGolem Korab) is the highest mountain of Albania and the Republic of Macedonia, its peak forming a frontier between the two countries. Mount Korab is also pictured in the coat of arms of the Republic of Macedonia.It is the highest point (peak) in the country - Big Korab which is 2764 meters high above sea level. Korab mountain chain that runs south-north direction. International climb Korab is held in early September each year on the occasion of September 8, the day of Independence.Because of the unique natural features of the area of ​​Mount entering the borders of Macedonia in 1952 is recognized as part of the National Park "Mavrovo".

Bistra Mountain

Bistra is a mountain in Macedonia, It is famous for its pastures and as it border with Mavrovo Lake most of the mountain belongs to the National Park Mavrovo. The climbing to the highest peak "Medenica" is done in the standard direction from probably the most famous village Galichnik, which is located 1350 meters above sea level.There are thirty wild horses in the pastures of Bistra, which are coming near the pastoral sheepfolds. There are only few of these breed of horses left on Bistra because of the uncontrolled hunting and taming. There is a big ski centre on Bistra. The well-prepared tracks are a true delight for the skiers, with seven ski-lifts available for them to cruise through the vast snow slopes.

Shar mountain

The Šar Mountains  is a mountain range in the Balkans that extends from southern Kosovo and the northwest of the Republic of Macedonia to northeastern Albania.


The Šar Mountains have a total area of 1600 km. 56,25% of that area is in the Republic of Macedonia, 43.12% in Kosovo, and 0,63% in Albania. There are three plains Vraca,Sirinic and Rudoka. The system is about 80 km (50 mi) long and 10–20 km (6–12 mi) wide.The mountain massif has been formed in the Tertiary Period. The most upper parts of the mountains have been frozen with large amounts of ice and snow.
It includes several high peaks:

Vegetation on the mountains includes crops up to around 1,000 m (3,281 ft), forests up to 1,700 m (5,577 ft), and above that lie high pastures which encompass around 550 km2 (212 sq mi). The Šar Mountains are the largest compact area covered with pastures on the European continent. They are most known as the origin of the dog breed Šarplaninac, which was bred on these pastures.
